So you’re getting married, congratulations! Now the fun of planning the wedding begins!

While there are many elements to planning a wedding, perhaps the most important thing is the date.

Your wedding date will stand out to you for the rest of your life. So you want to choose one that will be meaningful to you. Beyond that, you’ll need to choose a date that’s convenient for you, family, friends, and vendors.

While spending a ton on your wedding may seem unavoidable, there are ways to cut back on costs. One way is to choose a wedding date that saves you money.

How can one day of the year be cheaper than another? Keep reading to find out.

Travel Dates

Do you have a lot of family coming from out of town? If so, plan your wedding around cheaper travel dates.

Save yourself some cash by bringing people in on weekdays instead of weekends. Always avoid holidays and other high-travel periods that drive prices up.

Time of Year

You may have always wanted a spring, summer, or fall wedding, but you may want to choose something else for your budget’s sake.

A wedding in January or February will cost you less than one in a more popular month like June. Why? Because venues and vendors are more in demand during more popular months.

Natural Scenery

If you still want to go with a more popular date, you can still cut costs. Ask a family member or friend to use their well-groomed yard as your ceremony and/or reception venue.

You can also save by using natural foliage and already-beautiful settings. That way, you won’t have to worry about paying for floral arrangements and decorations.

Day of the Week

No doubt about it, Saturday is the most popular day to get married. Lower costs by moving the wedding to Friday.

Even better, choose any other day of the week. Venues won’t charge as much for weekdays, so check out your options! Just make sure all your most important guests will still be able to attend.

Time of Day

The month and weekday you choose are important, and so is the time of day. Many weddings and receptions tend to be in the evening. By why not go for something earlier?

Going for brunch instead of dinner will help you cut costs. Plus, a morning or afternoon wedding means you’ll have more of the day to spend one-on-one with your new spouse!

Your Perfect Wedding Date

You can still have a perfect wedding date while keeping your budget in mind. You may have to give a little in some areas, but you can make your wedding all you want it to be on any date.

Take your personal circumstances into account and keep these tips in mind. Low-cost weddings can be just as gorgeous and memorable as expensive ones, so don’t be afraid to consider your money-saving options!

I’ve actually never haven given much thought of how the right wedding date can make a difference on the costs but you’ve made many good points as to why we can save more on other days. Wedding venues get pretty booked on weekends so it’s understandable why the prices go on premium compared to weekdays. There are some couples who stick to certain dates due to it being a non negotiable or something really important for them! A lot of things to consider for sure.
