A Focus on Community

Being part of North Park community is a pleasure and an honor. We not only work here, we live here!
We understand the importance of being a positive force in the community’s growth and development. We have achieved this by being an active community partner, providing a place for meetings, performances, fundraisers and the like. And we have accomplished this by creating a warm, loving atmosphere where customers feel at home.

About The Newman-1.0.0.F. Building

Edward W. Newman was one of North Park’s most prolific builders of concrete constructions.
He built many of the local Spanish colonial style houses in this material as well as this building on the Northeast corner of Kansas Street and University Avenue. The building, planned in 1929 to serve as North Park’s first department store, had an open mezzanine around the ground floor and sidewalk display windows. The store closed after experiencing difficulties during the depression. The Odd Fellows remodeled the building in 1933 and it became the 1.0.0.F. Sunset Temple.
